Our History
The Igbo Community Center AZ was founded by the Igbo Community Association of Arizona (ICAA) with a vision to create a space where culture, community, and tradition could thrive in Phoenix, Arizona.
The roots of the ICAA trace back to the Igbo people of Nigeria, one of the largest ethnic groups in Africa, known for their rich heritage, resilience, and strong sense of community. As Igbo families began settling in Arizona, there was a growing need to preserve cultural traditions while building a sense of belonging in a new home.
In 2010, the Igbo Community Association of Arizona was formally established, serving as a lifeline for families through cultural events, language programs, and community gatherings. Over the years, the organization grew in both membership and vision.
In 2020, that vision expanded with the opening of the Igbo Community Center AZ — a permanent home for celebration, connection, and cultural exchange. What began as a space for the Igbo community evolved into a welcoming venue for all cultures and communities across Arizona.
Today, the Igbo Community Center AZ stands as a testament to heritage, unity, and growth. From weddings and festivals to corporate and community events, the center continues to serve as a place where traditions are honored and new memories are created.
